Nice photo! It's ironic that you chose the words 'the PRR Heritage Unit looks a bit out of place'...it's out of place because the largest collection of Pennsy steam and other collectable power resides in area that wasn't a dominant PRR area (Strasburg). Kind of makes you wonder why Altoona (a PRR stronghold) wasn't selected to house the remnants of PRR steam, diesel and electric power instead of Strasburg.

Thanks Jeff. The selection of Strasburg as the location of the commonwealth's railroad museum (for all PA railroads) was not without controversy, as I recall reading in my grandmother's "Intelligencer Journal" and my father's "New Era" (the Democratic and Republican Lancaster newspapers, respectively.) The February 19, 1965 edition of the "New Era" reported that- "The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission selected Strasburg as the home for the new Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. Other locations in the running had been Altoona, and Mount Union, Huntingdon County."
