I'm surprised they don't aggressively remove all vegetation around the abutments and arches (and decks, for that matter) of those stone and concrete bridges - it's the biggest threat to their longevity. Maintenance reduced, bridge life span increased, visibility improved - win-win-win. It's truly a case of a penny saved is a dollar wasted in this case.
