Having the long-hood end lead,follows the Pennsylvania RR "tradition" of designating the long-hood end the "F" end of road-switcher type locomotives. This seemed to last until the point where low short hoods became the "standard" nation-wide.

"Standing room only!" Such narrow platforms. It's amazing how much has changed, or is it, perhaps instead, how long it took for things to change here? The station is now on the other side, all the platforms raised and widened, and freight, while they do run on the NEC, they are no longer run throughs but rather short locals feeding other lines.
