John - lovely photo of another piece of Americana now disappearing from the rails as Ringling Brother's and Barnum and Bailey Circus will close it's "tent flaps" forever on May 21, 2017. No more sitting track-side and waiting to catch a glimpse of this magnificent train and it's family friendly appeal. PETA and the SPCA and other groups have won their "victory" with their constant harassment of this Circus by continuing to file lawsuit after lawsuit in courts about "animal cruelty" - even though the courts proved that animal cruelty never existed - and upon the retirement of the Elephants in May of 2016 - the RBBB Circus has seen a plummet in ticket sales because the Elephants just aren't there. The financial burden of fighting the lawsuits, and now the plummeting ticket sales, has finally caught up to the RBBB. They no longer can financially sustain their operation. So thank the "animal rights" folks for once again killing an icon of America - after 146 years, the circus is now "closed". For those out there that have the chance - take a photo of this train one last time - it's no longer going to roam the rails of America after May 21st, 2017.
