There are still ten JS 2-8-2 steam locomotives working at Sandaoling in North-West China. The question is how long will they continue to work? I understand a decision will be made at the end of March 2017 as to whether to continue using the locos to haul coal for another 3 years or so, or whether to transport the coal using mine trucks. We will soon know - there is a rumour they may well continue to use them. It's just incredible that steam trains are still working in 2017!
