The locomotives were spared the derail. They are parked on a dead end line south of the accident. Until they can get the bridge replaced where this accident happened, they are stuck.

Thank you God for keeping anyone from being hurt. It was on a Modern Marvels show where I think I heard it right that between 1900 and 1917 something like 200,000 people were killed in railroad related accidents. but I guess even though it is much safer now there can still be risks, so my hat is off to all the railroad workers of America, people should think of that when they turn on the lights that electric was made by coal carried by a train, your consumer goods made some of their journey in intermodal containers, etc.
