Sure would be neat if a Texas type steam locomotive was refurbished to operating condition.

This past September (2016) I had the opportunity to visit the California State Railroad Museum, and spent time on the Sacramento River Front looking at this locomotive up close and personal. Of course, she wasn't cosmetically restored then either, and she looks much better now.
I also spent the night in the Delta King Paddle Wheel River Boat Hotel (and for anyone planning on visiting Old Sacramento and the CSRM - I HIGHLY recommend a stay on the Delta King - it's just a 5 minute walk from the CSRM front doors). My room was on the Starboard / dock side next to the Boardwalk, and I got to look at this locomotive and the 4-8-4 Santa Fe steamer with this one, from my hotel room, but most of the time I was sitting on deck, mentally transporting myself back in time to imagine this and other steamers working that very same river front and Boardwalk. Again, anyone planning on visiting the CSRM - Plan to spending a night on the Delta King! It's HIGHLY recommended and you won't forget it!
