Posted by Georg Trüb on June 23, 2017  No cogwheel used. 7 % is a grade which is possible by adhesion with not too heavy trains. On the Bernina line of the RhB, the main part has a grade of 7.0 %. Posted by Nick Craven on November 20, 2018  I was lucky enough to make the trip from Chur to Tirano as part of my honeymoon. It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. The grades really are something else. You feel like you're barreling down the mountain on a sled on the descent into Tirano.
