That's cool about the coupler. Now, if we could just find a way to make old and weather-worn steel not rust.

There's a bit of a story behind 4913's current condition. According to Scott Cessna, former director, 4913 was planned to get new steel welded in. The museum had a gentleman (whose name currently escapes me) who was a very talented welder and mechanic. If you saw the condition the turntable came to the museum in versus how it looks today, you'd swear they're not the same piece of equipment (the turntable, by the way, is the last remaining piece of the RF&P Pot Yard). Once the table was in, this volunteer began removing the bondo patches from 4913 with the intention of welding new steel into the carbody and repainting the locomotive. Sadly, he was hired by NS elsewhere in the system and 4913 was left as-it-was at that time. The museum will get to her eventually, but at least she's finally under cover for the first time since retirement.
