This locomotive was donated by CN to the City of Toronto at the time of the demolition of the CN Spadina roundhouse. The restoration work was performed by CN's Winnipeg shops and then the engine sat in the John Street roundhouse for about 25 years pending the fruition of the plans to make the CP facility into a railway museum. There is a bronze plaque explaining these details, but I don't know if it is currently affixed to the 4803.
