I've noticed that UP has replaced some SP signal bridges and masts. I wonder why they don't simply install Darth Vader signal heads & associated electronics on the existing ironwork. Has to do with $$$, no doubt.

showalterbj, I wonder if it has to do with those skinny little ladders and walkways on top. Of course, those could be replaced as well, but the cost to bring them up to code must not be worth it?
