Thanks for being there! It seems just like yesterday (2007) when that shiny repainted SW appeared. I have to confess of being of two minds on this - terribly sad that this might be it for the humble remnants of the C&E line - but also in utter awe that it's 2018 and the operation lasted even this long! With all the proposed developments in the area (both on the island and at the Trib's old Freedom Center, will there even be anything left (ex-MILW or ex-C&NW) downstream of North Ave. yard?

Bloomers Chocolate is still there, I saw some cars on the low side siding. Same comment for me, I have many photos including to Peerless, Big Bay. Watching them go through the scrap yard was a trip in itself. Thanks for this photo, wondered what they were doing.

Just read this morning that the city and a big developer (Lincoln Yards project - hoping for Amazon HQ2) want to possibly re-purpose the remnants of the C&E/Goose Island trackage into a light rail line (or bus lane - yuck). The line would run from about Armitage down to as far as Grand. Maybe sometime it would be extended to Ogilive and Union. One could almost then opine that they could tie that into the old C&NW Carroll Ave ROW too for a line east (a separate idea that has been discussed before). Interesting times.
