Nice photo of a nice piece of rolling stock. Do I understand it is now under private ownership. Does this unit consist with a normal Amtrak train. Does Amtrak allow a privately one unit to be mixed in with passenger service, think long line service here. An enterprising entrepreneur could do quite well for himself and for the railroad as well. I am sure Amtrak or UP would charge for a space withing the training. If Amtrak is cutting back (or actually eliminating) true dining cars then let a dining car onto the train to provide a dining experience, even on short runs. While Amtrak has dining cars but they really do not have much to offer, Turn it to an independent contractor who willing to pay for space on the train and, perhaps, a percentage contract. Could work. Choose the products that passenger really want, charge prices high enough to pay all the bills leaving a 20% Overhead and 20% Profit. Hell, I would be willing to do that.
