I had to look several times at this photo....I thought you captured me in my car (the Buick Skyhawk - the second car from the front in the lane closest to the barrier wall/fence). After checking the dates on my 1361 photos, I chased the 1361 one month earlier on June 21st 1987. It sure was neat to see a PRR K4s steaming out on the former PRR mainline in the PRR railroad town of Altoona! Check this one off of the bucket list (although I am still hoping to see her pull a passenger train around the Horseshoe Curve some day).

Jeff- I double-checked the original slide, and this is indeed the June 21st trip because the slide is stamped "Jun 87W." This was a time period when Kodak stopped using an inked date and had switched to an indentation for the date stamping- it was sometimes hard to read. I changed the date above. Perhaps that IS your Buick. I have three other shots of this trip in the data base, now with corrected dates. Thanks.

Bob - Since you confirmed the date of your photo as June 21st 1987, you did capture me in this photo! Part of my K4s train chasing route took me to this location. It was difficult to see over the vehicle barrier, but it was neat to see a PRR K4s out on the mainline! I know the car is mine because my wife was in the front passenger seat wearing a light colored top as shown in your photo. Also, being from Ohio, my car has license plates mounted on the front of the car while PA does not require them to be mounted there. I also recall the vintage red car that was behind my car too. Thanks for sharing this photo!
