Remnants of the Bonelli House that once stood here before the speedway. I can still remember riding my bike along these tracks as a child in the days before Yellow locomotives replaced the gray of the SP.

Shortly before 8pm on November 10, 1929 Southern Pacific Locomotive 5042 was derailed by a local train robber near this location. The ALCO 4-10-2 locomotive and 4 passenger cars of the West Coast Limited chewed up 600 yards of track and left the rails after the robber removed numerous rail spikes in an effort to derail and rob the train. The robber boarded the derailed train and netted $300 from passengers before fleeing. Information including photos can be found at scvhistory.com/scvhistory/lw2892.htm
