Why did this train require five locomotives? Truly surprising for Europeans to see that, even for such short trains, when the common sight in Europe is one engine only, sometimes two.

Jean-Marc: This particular run was quite large—much of the train is not visible curving west from this junction. Also, the grade going up the branch (with the loads) to East Carbon is pretty steep.
