Marty....that's got to be an R&SW train as they always had cattle on the head end to unload at Lanark or Shannon.....one morning on 86 I was Firing for Maurice Vaa with Tony Charland working the Head Brakies job....we stopped at Shannon to unload the three head cars of cattle at the chutes.....these were double decker cars and the cows just didn't want to walk down that upper chute......Tony climbed on the side of the car to get the girls motivated. We had a couple of stragglers because one of the cows fell and dropped between the car and the chute.......but he got her out too and all ended well. The photo shows that the 89A has a automobile side view mirror on it which seems odd as the Milwaukee had nothing but side view mirrors from PRIME which were made on the south side of Milwaukee at that time!!

Tom, I never knew the crew actually delivered the cattle and not the cars. Makes sense for car utilization. Did the crew get a few extra bucks?
