Thanks for the excellent photo. I grew up about 2 blocks from this location. I was about 5 years old when the steam engines were replaced by these diesels. Many of the men that worked for the BL lived in the neighborhood. When I was about 11 years old I began to ride my bike over to the shops to watch the trains. Many times, the shop hostler would invite me to ride in the fireman's seat as he moved engines and cars around the shops. In the late 80's I rode my last BL engine during a retirement ceremony for an engineer friend. I was asked to photograph the occasion so we road from one end of the yard and back a couple of times. When I pass by this location now there is some sadness when I think about what it was 60 years ago. Now the yard is a pass through for the CSX to their Pinners Point Container yard. I did notice recently that a couple of new tracks were being added to the old BL yard. The CXS uses the yard when they need the space for the container trains.
