I know ridership was down in that era, but I doubt the Super ever ran that short of a train.

Having grown up looking at CN advertising materials, it is HARD to believe the "Super Continental" ran with only 4 passenger cars. Truly fallen upon hard times.

I took shots of a few different Continentals on this trip. They were all pretty short. My take is that VIA was in the process of paring down this train which it ultimately cut. Note the food service was from the x-CP Skyline dome coffee shop. And this was in February, probably not a huge travel month.
