Sid: Yes, you are thinking of SL&RG 2-8-0 No. 18, a former LS&I locomotive that replaced 2-6-0 No. 1744 on their passenger runs. No. 1744 is a former Southern Pacific Mogul that spent time sprinting on trains in places like California’s Central Valley, and its usage on the grades on La Veta Pass was pretty hard on the machine. 2007 was its last year of operation on SL&RG.
