Its not that we haven't tried, Americans don't want anything else. Vehicles can travel a person anywhere they want, while a bus or a train can only take them to stations.

Europe isn't that much different. I was in Europe in 2016. I was in Munich and Salzberg and even on a road trip to Northern Italy. I saw plenty of expansion projects on freeways and roads. Although I will agree that other countries have far better public transportation systems to get you to more specific locations, I found that much of Europe is just as dependent upon personal vehicles and tend to prefer that over public transportation.

I like trains a lot, but I also like being able to drive my car to watch them and to be able to stay as along as I want. I do think it would be a good idea to have more of our nation's freight on the rails to make the highways safer and less congested for car drivers.
