I always wondered if the EMD built on Alco trucks pulled better because of the GE motors.

Not sure why some railroads had AAR style trucks on their GP30's. For the Milwaukee Road, this type truck came on their GP30's as a money saving measure. They were taken from some Alco engines that were either retired or traded in to EMD.
