I got a shot HERE in 2017. Spent two nights camping at the state park which is very nice. Hiked down to the tunnel and while down there a southbound train came through. The Rail Gods were good that day!!

What's happened to railroading in that part of the country is nothing short of heartbreaking. It would be really surprising to see the Appalachia District hang on for much more than a few more years, which is crazy given how busy it was just a decade ago, and tremendously sad considering the amazing scenery along this unique line.

Great Shot. I have been here several times and seen zero trains. I will be back on Railroad Day or whatever they call it.

Being IN the tunnel with a train going by was quite an experience. And it was OK to do at the time!
