The shiny locomotive (cab control car while the rear Maybach is out on the shop floor) versus the rusting hulk it started as proves something: There is no such thing as 'too far gone' as long as there are enough dedicated individuals (and money) The story of this restoration is quite interesting.
Hats off to the Pacific Locomotive Association and Niles Canyon crew for a real gem.
