Nice photo Alex, and interesting information. I do, however, have to correct one bit of information you shared regarding the 25 locomotives built by Alco in New York. They did NOT pass through Chicago under steam. When any builder finished a locomotive order, they would ship it to the railroad that ordered it in a transfer move "dead-in-tow". The manufacturers did then what EMD and GE do now, they send them out cold. Ever see a new batch of SD70ACe's being shipped to their new owner? They are "dead-in-tow" heading for their new home. Same with the Big Boys and any other locomotive built and shipped brand new.
