I'm going to guess that this unit was never this clean and shiny when working for the real CNJ. I think the CNJ might have had "road grime" right from the factory as a "cost reduction" option, lol. As for "as delivered," it appears that this unit was delivered with "scare stripes" on the nose, unless they applied those later, based on this shot of it from '72: https://www.railpictures.net/photo/59272/

CNJ applied yellow stripes to the short and long hood ends of the GP40Ps starting in 1972 (they were bi-directional). Some units also received silver trucks during that time period. So this scheme represents the 1968-1972 appearance.
