That cleared path just to the right of the distant utility pole is the right-of-way of the original line to Sag Harbor, which was built earlier than the extension to Montauk which bears off to the right in this photo. Trains continued to operate on the Sag Harbor ( now) branch for some years after the Montauk extension was opened.
