Any idea what the meaning is behind "R.R. NO. 563" under the cab?

The marking under the cab window indicates the F40PHR was built with components and parts sourced from SDP40F #563 when Amtrak traded them in for the construction of the F40s. F40PHs were built new, while the F40PHRs were built using traded-in SDP40Fs.

This photo reminds me of times watching trains with my Father, brother, grandsons, or friends. One of the extra joys that this hobby brings.

Tom - wonderful photo of a time that will never be repeated again. Wonderful memories for you and your son. Unfortunately, a scene like this could/would get an Engineer suspended or possibly fired if they did that today, due to all the FRA Safety rules and regulations - not to mention the Insurance Liability and company violations committed by this situation in today's world of litigation and liability. Sad that young people today can't have this type of opportunity with today's railroading world.
