Anyone else find it surprising as I do how quickly CR blue disappeared? We still have BN green, some ATSF paints, even a few SP around, but it's as though CR blue went away in a matter of months.

Obviously that's just an impression. I've got shots of Conrail blue more than a decade after CSX and NS divided Conrail between them.

I don’t doubt it, xBNSF’er, but my point is you can still find a couple of SP, several BN, SF, etc. But you haven’t seen an original CR blue in years. (Operating on CSX or NS, some still out there on short lines and such)

We also have to factor in PSR. The eastern carriers purged large numbers of older units from their rosters while BNSF and UP weren't quite so aggressive on that front.

That is a good point. There’s quite the AC44Whatever revolution in that area.
