Sadly, so reminiscent of the "Ghetto Grilles" commonly seen in the Northeastern US in the 1970s.

Both are the state of affairs railroads and more importantly, our societies must face.

Oddly enough, some CP (and VIA) trains wore these in the 1970s and 80s in Alberta - but that was to protect against projectiles and loose loads on trucks in grade crossing accidents, rather than rock throwers....
