Minor correction: these are both GP38-2's. Note the four-axle trucks for each unit. This is a beautiful photo, by the way. The Rock Island has been gone for 40 years but at the very least we still have units like these painted to help us remember a "mighty fine line". Thanks for sharing this picture with us.
