A very unique locomotive, The AoSRHM is a great location for this locomotive to go to.

Kevin Keefe from Trains Magazine /Classic Trains did a really nice and informative write up which can be seen here.

Nice shot, Bob - surprised you waited so long to post it, though you couldn't have picked a better time. Sorry to see it leave, of course, and a little more so to a place it never operated, but it will be in excellent hands. David - sorry to say, though restoration plans lie in No. 1187's future, they are to be cosmetic for now.

Thanks for the comments. I have vivid memories of riding behind No. 4 in an open gondola as a 5 or 6-year old. The shrill whistle was scary and I got cinders in my eyes, but it was my first experience behind steam and I was hooked!

I agree, great timing. It is going to a great home where it will finally be able to get the care it has needed. Strasburg is an equally great place but it was such a low priority it wasn't going to happen. Would have loved to see it stay in PA either at The RRMofPA or with the Reading RR Historical Society but if it had to go out of the area, this is the place for it to go.
