I might be wrong here, but I grew up not too far from Holly, MI...and I'm pretty sure the trees aren't still bare in July...this looks more like March in MI...but nonetheless, nice photo...brings back memories of seeing the old GT cabooses running the rails...too bad they've all disappeared from use.

Roger, while the DT&I did have some extended vision cabooses, this is not one of them. I am 99.9% sure this is a former Central Vermont caboose, which did own ten extended vision cabooses numbered 4040-4049. I tried to determine the former CV number of this caboose from the Internet, but all I could find is a reference that some CV cabooses went to GTW, but it didn't tell me which ones. Also, please notice the newer red paint where the GT herald and "GTW 79058" is stenciled. This is exactly the same place where the CV herald and number was located. This is a nice photo, and thank you for sharing!
