First three cars began life as N&W 10 roomette/6 double bedroom sleepers. The rear car was a PRR 21 roomette sleeper. PRR acquired the N&W cars in 1963-64 and converted them and a number of their former Pennsy sleepers to coaches. Conversion of the former N&W cars required a slight rearrangement of the windows on what had been the bedroom side of the cars, evident in the photo as slightly elongated windows in the center of the cars. No changes were made to the window configuration of the PRR sleepers.
