Nice spot and shot. Will that electrification ever be finished? I recall seeing it much the same back in 2006!

Hi John, I doubt it very much. It was part of a bigger project to ease the grade as it’s the 2nd steepest in NSW after Wynyard to the Harbour Bridge. There is the beginnings of a tunnel at Dombarton and on the Southern Highlands side an unfinished bridge across the Nepean River at Menangle.

A large viaduct and what would have been the longest tunnel excluding subways in Australia was part of that. Why didn't it get finished?
