Some people are so stupid when it comes to train crossings!

When a train stops partially fouling a crossing or nearly doing so, motorists have no way to know whether the train will remain stopped for thirty seconds or two hours, so their driving around it is not shocking.

What I would give to have seen the face on the driver that got the train horn blown at them. Common sense isn't so common anymore! You know if the train hit the car, they'd go running to a lawyer to sure the railroad.

Covered in most every railroad rule book issued. Expect ANY movement, on ANY track, at ANY time , and in ANY direction.

I don''t know, pull up on the street so the conductor has an easier time climbing on, too many... But why partially block the intersection, if concerned, block it totally. Lengthy train isn't going to move anywhere quickly plus I think the standard is to provide two warning whistles. After that stopping and blocking intersections is one of the causes of grade crossings accidents as frustrated drivers make poor choices.

In my 46 years of truck driving, I have seen similar incidents such as the photo all over the country with a lot being at grade crossings. Here recently in the last few years, it has gotten worse because of talking or texting on the cell phone and not paying attention to driving. Just Drive and ONLY DRIVE! If you just have to talk or text then pull off the road to do so and not endanger yourself and others doing so. I still remember the young lady some years ago that rammed into the back of my trailer on Interstate 70 just west of Denver at 80 MPH because she had to text while driving. Did not look up and see my trailer in the far right lane with the flashers on crawling up that long grade at 30 MPH. And, still, she is in a wheelchair for life. JUST DON'T TEXT AND TALK WHILE DRIVING! But, no matter what a person says, drivers will continue to do so because they are so impatient and always in a hurry. Again, I have seen too many people, especially impatient drivers, get hurt, maimed, or killed at railroad grade crossings over the years .
