This is actually a rare RDC variant that was custom built for the New Haven for their "Roger Williams" service in the late 1950's. That cab is all original!

That cab reminds me more of an FM P12-42 used on the John Quincy Adams than it does a F-unit though.

It's not modified to resemble an F unit. That's how it was built, as part of the Roger Williams train set. It was built wit a locomotive cab.
