Does the wheelhouse on that tugboat go up and down?

As a very, very bad sea traveller, the thought of being on the "bridge" of that tug in bad amidships swell makes me want to go and lie down in a darkened room. In 1980 with my wife and two very young children we were tourists in the N.E. of the U.S. From the U.K. very unusual, we were amongst the first to so do. I remember being on a ferry crossing, cannot remember which one, but three things spring to mind. First, passing the statue of liberty, second seeing a barge (or barges) going in the opposite direction loaded with freight cars, (do not remember if there was a loco on board) and thirdly, belting out Ella Fitzgerald's song about Manhattan and going on the Staten Island ferry. Was it really forty plus years ago we did that trip? This photo and Greg's other one sure brought back a lot of happy memories, and made me feel old.

Have never seen a tug with a lifted bridge.
