This brings back lots of memories, of Montgomery as a small town with lots of railroads and our much anticipated trips to Willot Model Railroad Shop in Prattville.

Over to the right, that sure looks like a pair of steam locomotives parked near the caboose. Any recollection as to what these were and what happened to them? Spring 1974 would be remarkable to find any surviving steam. BTW my late father finished his "Four in the Force" at Maxwell AFB and always had some good things to say about the area. He even mentioned his Air Force days a time or two, also . . .

Jonathan, there was a local group (NRHS chapter maybe?) that tended the two steamers (0-4-0s, I believe), an L&N wooden caboose, center cab diesel, wooden/turnbuckle vinegar car, and a few other things. I don't know any other details. Keep reading on other sites that some of the equipment went to Andalusia, but apparently they have not had much success at preservation or creating museum.
