"Standard"... maybe in a bit more "representative" than "typical" sense? OK, I wasn't there then (I was a little kid in British Columbia, and I don't remember the trains I saw there either), but the impression I get from a lot of photos is... Conrail intermodals in the 1980s / early 90s did usually have 3 or 4 high-HP B-B, before the fleet of SD60/M/I and C40-8/W became so large it dominated even intermodals. However, GP40-2, B36-7 and B40-8 seem to have run like-with-like more often than not: photos of matched sets are way more common than if power was assigned randomly, getting 2 models on a train was common enough, getting all 3 on one is something appealing I'd *like* to see way more often than I have!
