My second thought is "Now these are as faded as Conrail and Santa Fe C40-8Ws often were." My first thought was "This reminds me how I wish the early CSX liveries lasted longer."

This is an interesting Dash 9... high headlights, but not plow? That's kinda rare for a D9.

What I meant was it doesn't have the usual ditch lights a Dash 9 has. Apologies for the confusion!

You mean ditch lights above vs below frame? I've never paid attention, but among C44-9Ws in general, the high position seems more common. C40-8Ws seem to normally be low, though. This is one of those engines railfans don't seem to know what to call; I've seen these CSX engines called C40-8W, C44-8W, C40-9W and occasionally C44-9W. Regardless, they normally have low ditch lights like the C40-8Ws they look like. Checking other online photos, it looks like 9004's lights were moved early in 2007.
