Oops! Someone came in a little too "hot" for that maneuver. Probably have a few days off, and maybe retraining to remind them of how to couple trains together. Hopefully they don't get fired, but then it's possible they might, since it depends on the railroad's discipline policy. I'm not familiar with Finland railroads so I won't commit to what the outcome will be for the employees involved with this incident. But I will hope they don't lose their jobs.

Looking at the ice build up on the rails, looks like the weather was a big factor in this. Loss of traction under braking most likely - brakes applied but just sliding on ice, which can happen at any speed.

It indeed looks like it Steve. Don't know why they're running trains on those tracks in those conditions, dangerous.

The accident happened, when the other unit was set to be moved to the departure track. The conductor didn't see that the same track had two train units and hopped on the wrong unit while the engineer was in the right one. Ice had nothing to do with the accident
