The Milwaukee Road had a device on the SD40-2's behind the radiator fans that could be raised up to contact the catenary in their electrified territory to break the ice. If memory serves me, those may have only been mounted on the Locotrol Master units. Their unit numbers were 2 digit and the rest of the SD40-2 fleet had 3 digit numbers.
