Nice photo. That structure to the left is the old 'Slope' tower location and the open area, including the wooded area, to the right used to be the location of a turn table that used to turn the helper steam locomotives around. My mother and father grew up a short distance from this location and they told me a lot about this area.

There's a rather short siding in this photo. I can think of two possible uses. One is so they can attach and remove mid-train DPUs, and the second is a place for motive power to be able to move in heavy traffic without really affecting the trains moving through.
