During COVID-19 pandemic lock down Indian Railways stepped in as the sole carrier of agriculture products, medicines, cereals, grains and other consumer products from different parts of the country to different places maintaining the supply chain of the country intact. Goods movement through road, air and sea was very minimal during lock down time. In this huge task of maintaining the supply chain as it became the sole responsibility of IR, the demand for freight hauling locos became very high and some sheds came up an idea of passenger class electric locos to work as multiple units. Since the passenger service has been completely stopped, WAP-4 locos were all idle. So some sheds added facility for making WAP-4 locos work as multiple units by providing MUing cables which can be seen in the above picture hanging under the windshield. I got lucky to spot this unsung hero of pandemic time in my state eventhough this loco is based in Vijayawada in state of Andhra Pradesh .
