The T1's were built for speed and were the successors to the K4s 4-6-2 class Pacifics. Ironically, Pennsy management designers were traditional and kept to standard building practices. But after that management left, the PRR tried numerous types of gadets and various types of wheel arrangements. The T1 class was designed by Baldwin and is just one example of the new type of locomotion the PRR used. Google the 'T1 Trust' and you can visit the organization that is currently building a PRR class T1 locomotive. Thanks for sharing this gem.

One can definitely see the influence the T1 design had on the Baldwin RF-16 "Land Shark".
