What was the final destination of this train? Surprised to see foreign power on this side of the river, given the 3rd rail territory to the south.

There was no place else to go but New York. Suppose it's possible that they did a set out at Croton North and that included the foreign power?

That's what I was thinking, though I just remembered my uncle got a photo of a BAR gp9 on Long Island, so BAR must have been ok with any modifications. Nevertheless this is great rare shot.

Saw a pic of the same train on an "other" website not to be named. This is SENH (Selkirk - New Haven, CT), not SENY. SENH will leave the Hudson Line at Beacon, NY and move on to the old NH Maybrook Line to head to Cedar Hill Yard. There was no third rail that far north, so not an issue for third rail clearance on any of the power.

Yes, thank you... Completely forgot I was north of the connection here. That totally explains it.

My pleasure, Charles. Too bad Conrail sold off most of its Connecticut trackage, the remnant of the old Maybrook Line going by the end of 1992, after which any Cedar Hill traffic moved to the Boston & Albany via West Springfield, removing one more of the scant chances to get any daylight freight on the Hudson Line.
