Great catch and interesting angle here! The second unit looks like a U28B. How we miss those high-hood U-boats.

9702 was originally built as an early body style U30B numbered 1959. By this time, it and 2 of its sisters had been converted to a slugs 9700, 9701, and 9702. I remember seeing pairs like this constantly trundling back and forth around the Roanoke yard in the late 70s and early 80s.
