I remember fondly the operation of the chalkboard arrivals board. An autopen device would communicate to the track announcer standing by the board on which the tracks that inbound trains would arrive. The man would complete the entry on the chalkboard and announce the track arrangement, often just minutes before each train's arrival

Kansas City Union Station also had an autopen system. As a kid, I thought they were fascinating, a bit of pre-computer technology.
