Always great to see a photo of one of my favorites from excursion service, from back in the day in revenue service. A&WP 290 hasn't run since 1992, but I'd love to see it running again.

IMHO this engine is every bit as beautiful as the Southern PS4 and would be a great stand-in if anyone wanted to operate her.

What an outstanding image of her glory days. I was so thankful while visiting family in Atlanta in 1990 of having the opportunity of chasing her to and from Brunswick Georgia. Lots of video from that trip and hope someday of sharing it somewhere. If my memory serves me correctly I remember hearing that Graham Claytor once wanted to make her look like a PS4 and run it for excursions. That of course never happened for I believe the powers to be did not want that to happen. Thanks again for sharing this wonderful image.

IMHO more beautiful than the PS4. I like that cast trailing truck and the absence of that Elesco feed waterheater. Sure would like to see her run again.
